I am directed by the Postmaster General to refer to your letter

of the 29th April, enclosing a copy of a telegram from the Governor

of Hong Kong proposing certain increases in the rates of postage in Hong Kong as from the 1st June.

It is understood that the proposals relate not only to domestic and inter-Empire postage rates, but also to the international letter

and postcard rates; and a letter, of which a copy is enclosed, has accordingly been sent to the Swiss Post üffice under Article 105, §1,

of the Detailed Regulations of the Postal Union Convention.

The International Bureau of the Postal Union will be duly

informed of the new rates applicable to (a) letters within the Colony

and (b) letters and postcards for destinations within the British

Empire.
